The Shaftesbury Titans Prep hockey program was established in 2012 and is designed for elite female hockey players. The program is located in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Quite simply, our program is designed to showcase players to prospective colleges and universities. This is accomplished by developing individual skills through on ice and off ice programming. The team competes against some of the top programs across North America through tournaments and showcase events. One of the key measurements of our programs success is the ability to help our players achieve their goals of continuing to play hockey at the University or Collegiate level. In its first two seasons the program has placed 15 of its 16 graduates in CIS or NCAA programs.
The student-athletes attend Shaftesbury High School where they receive full-day academic programming and a high-quality education which will prepare the players for post-secondary institutions. The hockey staff has teachers that accompany players on tournaments in order to help the student-athletes with their studies while travelling for competition. In addition, the teaching staff at Shaftesbury works with players to assist them during events which take them away from the classroom.
Shaftesbury High School is a public high school and has a reputation for strong academics. The majority of its students move onto post-secondary education. Shaftesbury High School offers many Advanced Placement (AP) courses which allows players and students to earn college credit while they attend Shaftesbury.
The team practices four times a week and players also take part in off-ice strength and conditioning sessions twice per week. The Titans Prep practice facility is the nearby Varsity View Sportsplex where players have access to their own dressing room. The team will play approximately 50 - 60 games over the course of the year.
The Titans Prep are a part of the Shaftesbury Hockey Canada Skills Academy and are sanctioned by Hockey Manitoba as a Hockey Canada Sports School.
